Pruning hedges is the worst job in the garden. Up and down the ladder more times than you can count. Maybe next time I will do one of those Timelapse videos and make it like a Chaplin movie.
But now’s the time, before it’s to cold and wet.
This one was a hard cut back, by order of the owner.
Come spring it should be back to its glorious (yet invasive) best.

Got an annoying little job!!!
Well this one was just that. The owner of this house had carpet installed a few years back and because of a difference in how it was done, they had small sections that weren’t painted.
It annoyed them every day, that was until I had some paint matched and spent a few hours with a small brush and a putty knife filling in the unpainted areas.

Little job, replace a section of facia that had rotted out because the flashing had rusted away.
Insert a meter and a half of new facia. Cut out the rusted flashing and rejoin it. Order the shortest piece of custom zinc flashing to match the original and “Good old uncle bob” it’s done.
The alternative was to spend thousands of dollars replacing the whole lot on a house that may well make way for something new in the next 10 years.
Sometimes it doesn’t have to be all or nothing.
Call me if you have a problem that you want to discuss.

Called out on Friday for a strange leak in the shower. Water squirting up, not down.
Turned out the neck had a crack.
The owner wanted something modern and new.
What do you think of this upgrade?

Rotten timbers replaced, if your deck or veranda is sagging, moving or not feeling quite as stable as it should, give me a call, often the worst bits can’t be seen and major issues might be just around the corner.
You would never have guessed that this post (that holds up the stairs, the decking and the roof) was so bad it was thinner than a broom handle.
How’s the time to get these things fixed, get in before the next holiday season starts.
Call me. Brian the Cowes Handyman.

Doors ??
These wardrobe doors had seen better days. They were falling apart and dragging on the floor, not closing properly and needed to go.
Of course they were not standard size and had to be slimmed and trimmed, a little off the top and just millimetres off the sides.
But with a coat of paint and some new hinges they now work perfectly.
If you have doors that need some realignment or something more drastic ten give me a call.

Not to sure if Odd jobs is the best way of describing these things.
But today I had a lot of quite odd jobs.
Pick up the remains of an old fence, sort the steel, wire and recyclables, then the rubbish and old timber posts.
Then pick up some old cardboard boxes for recycling and loads of foam and packing for a tip run from Cowes to Grantville.
2 & 1/2 loads of recycling to Cowes depot, and with an almost full trailer of rubbish it’s off overseas to the mainland to drop off the non recyclable stuff.
