Silvertops Our little eco life...

Spring has sprung. I have been quiet on here but loud in life.

Everything is happening and nothing is happening.

Lockdown life.
A chance to slow down and watch, taking note of everything bursting into the new season.

The daily waking of the house before the sun.
The birds sneaking our morning tea crumbs. The water, making its way across every inch of this once burnt land.
The footprints in the sand and animal tracks through the bush.
The flowers creeping over rocks and up trees.

Home... beyond the creek.
It's tales of overflowing creeks and frogs out here, and pretty dresses...

That moon last night...

I think this is an orb spider? She has been busy in this spot for weeks. Her webs are truly a work of art.

It's an apple picking kind of day ✨

It is so beautiful and cool here this morning and I think I have probably given enough of these apples to the birds.

This is the first of two trees that we have in our walled garden. I think I got about 15 apples off it last year, although it's a bit of a blur... fires hey!

So, the photos are... before picking, after picking and then last of all, the whole harvest. All these apples were mostly hidden under the leaves or weighing down the branches. Fruit trees really are amazing...

What a difference a year makes...
The ultimate then and now, it all came to an end on this day last year.

Almost 4 weeks and 3 fire fronts. Our house was fine thanks to all the efforts of so many people.
We are having an NYE celebration tonight with two beautiful friends that were here for a very different kind of NYE last year. One that we will never forget. We are so incredibly thankful to them.

Christmas 2019... Fire
Christmas 2020... Covid Test
Here is to a Covid test on Christmas Day and then self-isolation for two and a half days.
Our Christmas Day was spent at home (with a quick trip to Mudgee Hospital after the kids woke up unwell) and a big explore in the afternoon.

But, results came back this morning and the kids runny noses and coughs are negative! We are all clear. So, we are heading off to celebrate the tail end of the family Christmas. Let's hope there are some leftovers!

Friends, pizzas, wine and our own personal frog orchestra every single night.
But, the cicadas are missing this year. It is such a strange feeling to miss such a loud noise that dominated our first Summer days here.
Is anyone else missing the cicadas?
