What is Capital Gains Tax?

Capital gains tax is the tax you pay on the profit you make when you sell an asset (like a house) for more than what you pai for it.

The changes:
From 1st of July 2027, instead of automatically getting a 50% discount, tax will be calculated on your inflation-adjusted profit, with a minimum 30% tax rate applied.

The good news:
New home builds are expected to retain more favourable tax treatment, which may support both investors an eligible first home buyers entering the market, making it a more attractive option overall.
