SELX PRIME CATTLE SALE 17/09/2026 SNAPSHOT 📸

Numbers lifted and the quality was only fair to good. There were just a few plainer weaners and a reasonable supply of feeder steers and heifers.

Restockers were strong on the lighter cattle that were mostly under 300kg. Grown steers all went to feed but there was a good run of grown heifers and 175 cows were penned.

The market sold to a mostly cheaper trend with restocking cattle the exception. Restocking weaner steers sold to strong demand and ranged from 582c to 644c/kg for the medium weights, heifers reached 560c/kg.

Feeder steers were back 7c on the medium weights but sold 5c better on the small run of heavy, above 400kg feeders. Prices ranged from 496c to 555c/kg. Feeder heifers lost 10c and ranged from 444c to 511c/kg.

Grown steers to feed under 500kg sold from 470c to 520c and the prime heavy grown heifers slipped 5c to 9c and ranged from 432c to 454c/kg.

The leaner 2 score cows were firm and ranged from 348c to 380c and the heavy cows were back 8c to 13c and ranged from 380c to 420c/kg. The best of the heavy bulls reached 430c/kg.
