Weekly Economic Update - 1 April 2024

The monthly inflation indicator was out last week.
· Underlying inflation came in at 2.7%, in line with what the RBA is expecting.
· Headline inflation came in at 2.4%; but this is partly due to energy subsidies, which is why the RBA will be focusing on underlying measures.

What to watch this week:
• The RBA decision is announced today.
o The RBA is expected to hold at this meeting; but how they’re viewing the labour market – particularly given the mixed results in the most recent release – will be key to understanding how soon we’ll see the next cut.
