📍 London today. 🇬🇧☕💻

One of the greatest benefits of building a business that travels with you is gaining perspective.

This morning, while working from a deck overlooking London, I was reflecting on conversations I’ve been having with Australian borrowers.

No matter where I am in the world, the questions remain the same:
✅ Should I refinance now or wait?
✅ How can I reduce my mortgage repayments?
✅ Is it better to fix or stay variable?
✅ How do I improve my borrowing capacity?

My advice right now is simple:

• Review your home loan regularly. Loyalty doesn’t always equal the best deal.

• Understand your borrowing power before you need it, not when you’ve found the perfect property.

• Keep an eye on your household cash flow, as lenders still place significant focus on spending habits.

• If you’ve received a pay rise or reduced debts recently, it may be time to reassess your lending options.

After more than 25 years helping Australian families navigate lending, I’ve learned that informed borrowers make better financial decisions.

The location of my office may change, but my passion for helping Australians create wealth through property never does.

This quote gets me every time. It’s such a beautiful reminder that the decisions we make today can have a big impact on someone else’s tomorrow.

Knowing that our choices now can create shade not only for our future selves, but also for the people we love and care about... what a gift that is.

Whether that’s the way we invest our time, our energy, our finances or our relationships, so much of what we do today is planting seeds for a future we may not see straight away, and that’s okay 🌱

Save this for the days when the hard work feels slow. Sometimes the seeds you’re planting take years before they become shade 🌴

And share this with someone you appreciate, who planted a seed for you a long time ago

Almost 40 years apart, same island, same tree, but different season of life.

The first time I went to Kavulik was back in the 1980s. And these photos make me think of how much has changed, but also how many things have stayed the same.

People often ask me why Papua New Guinea is so important to us. And the answer is simple - it’s part of our story.

It’s where our families come from, a place we want our kids and grandkids to know and be connected to, and where so many bonds and memories have been made - it’s special to us.

And it’s where we’re reminded that some of the richest parts of life have nothing to do with money.

And it’s one of the reasons we work so hard to help our clients build financial freedom.

Because for us, financial freedom hasn’t been about having more stuff.

It’s about having choices.

Creating financial freedom for yourself so you have the choice...

The choice to spend time with the people you love.
The choice to stay connected to your roots.
The choice to give back to causes you care about.

The choice to be present for the moments that matter most.

Everyone has their own reason for wanting to build wealth.

For some, it’s family. For others it’s travel, security, time, freedom, or creating opportunities for the next generation.

I’ve shared some of our reasons. So I’d love to know, what’s your reason?

I’d love to read your answer in the comments 👇🏽🤗

Over nearly 30 years in finance, I’ve asked thousands of people the same three questions.

Whether it’s your first property or your fifth, these are always where we start:

1️⃣ Where are you now?

2️⃣ Where do you want to get to?

3️⃣ How are you going to get there?

Simple questions, but they change everything. Because before we talk about lenders, or rates, or loan products, I want to understand your situation properly - not just the numbers, but you. What you’re working towards and why it matters to you.

Once we’re clear on where you want to get to, the “how” becomes much easier to build because it’s tailored to you, your goals and your circumstances.

That’s the strategy. And that’s the part people often overlook.

This is why Savvy Home Loans was never built to be transactional.

We’re not interested in getting you a loan and moving on to the next person (aka treating you like a number). We’re interested in the relationship, in being your partner in possibility for the long run, not just for this one decision.

Because the decisions you make now don’t just affect today. They shape what’s possible five, ten, twenty years from now.

Get the strategy and structure right early, and it creates opportunities you probably haven’t even thought of yet.

If you’re sitting with some big financial decisions at the moment and you’d love some help figuring out your “how”, book a Strategy Session using the link in my bio.

Helping people build that strategy is our bread and butter, and I’d love to help.

You may not know this about Savvy Home Loans, but for many years now, a portion of every loan settled goes towards funding community projects in Papua New Guinea.

One of the communities especially close to our hearts is the community in a remote village called Kavulik. It’s a 45 minute boat ride from mainland Kavieng, PNG, and this is where Derrick’s family comes from.

Over the years we’ve had the privilege of supporting different community projects there.

One of the first projects we supported was helping supply two large water tanks to the island.

This started because fresh water supply is a big issue there - when it doesn’t rain for months, the only water source they have is bore water. It was also a logistical feat getting the tanks to the island using simple banana boats… that felt like a project in itself!

Seeing the progress of our current project this month though has been incredibly special.

Currently, we’re helping build an elementary school for children in Years 1 to 3. It’s a much needed project for the growing community.

Helping people create wealth, financial freedom and opportunities here in Australia will always be at the heart of what we do.

But knowing that the work we do also creates opportunities for children and families in this remote corner of the world is something we don’t take for granted.

So to every client who’s trusted Savvy Home Loans over the years, Thank You.

You may not have realised it, but you’ve been part of this story too, and we’re incredibly grateful 💖

P.S. We’ll be sharing more updates from Papua New Guinea over the coming weeks, so if you’d like to follow along make sure you hit follow. And if there’s something you’d love to know about life over here, ask away in the comments 👇🏽
