They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Happy Easter to everyone.

While this is a Christmas Lights Display page, Easter is just as important, as we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Below is a video that I took from the Resurrection Scene of the Annual Melbourne Passion Play, a great initiative that I am involved with a the videographer.

MERRY CANDLEMAS!

Today is the Catholic feast of the Presentation of the Lord (where Jesus was presented at the Temple in Jerusalem for the first time 40 days after his birth), otherwise known as Candlemas, due to the blessing of and processing with lit candles at the Feast Day Mass. Traditionally, if Christmas decorations were still up, February 2 was the very last day to take them down. As it was, I packed away the very last parts of my Christmas Lights Display on Thursday- my sign and my Nativity. Also, my bushes have been trimmed back, and the lawns all mowed.

Again, many thanks to all who supported me this Christmas season, and other than a couple of posts to commemorate special days, I’ll see you all at in 9 months time!

Happy New Year, and a Blessed Epiphany of The Lord to everyone.

After nearly a month of flashing Christmas lights, I have just started taking them down after my last official night on Sunday. It is my tradition on January 6, the Epiphany, that wherever stage I’m at with taking down the lights, the only lights that remain lit is the Nativity, to honour not only the Holy Family, but the Magi who visited them to see the King of the Universe. The Nativity will remain lit until the last lights are packed away, hopefully by the end of January.

Thank you to all who supported the Vaxman80 Christmas Lights Display- Dandenong North, Victoria, Australia by either visiting them or watching them online. It’s a shame I did not get to see everyone this time- maybe this year!

Please honour the Holy Family on this Blessed Epiphany!

A reminder that Christmas isn’t over, it’s just begun. And neither is the Vaxman80 Christmas Lights Display- Dandenong North, Victoria, Australia. It’ll be running right up until Sunday January 4, so please come on by and take the lights in. If you came when I was out and the garage was locked, please feel free to come and see the Christmas village inside my garage.

Look forward to seeing you!

Memories! Pressed between the pages of my mind!

2025- Once again, not too many changes or additions.

Last year’s major addition was the addition of the red bauble in front of the garage surrounding the Merry Christmas sign. This year saw it supplemented with a new rainbow light curtain, and two nutcracker soldier rope lights on both garage columns. It had never occurred to me to put something on those columns until late last year, so this year I looked for two long and slender rope lights- the saluting nutcrackers soldiers were perfect, giving the garage facade a freshen up.

The interior garage village display saw the addition of a few new figurines and small displays. One significant change was replacing the skating rink with the magnetically controlled skaters (which was one of the first display pieces I bought when I first did the village display). The skating rink worked for about two days before it stopped working. Replacing the transformer did not work, so I had to replace the skating rink. I chose a piece which I really liked, a Nativity scene. In the context of the village itself, it was located right next to the church at the front, and thus became the church’s and town’s Nativity scene.

Two of the more obvious changes were around the bush near the kitchen- the 3D star on top of the bush, and the ‘flashing bubble shower light’ hanging on the corner eaves, which replaced the ‘petal ball’ from the previous year which wasn’t all that impressive. Both lights really stood out, and I was very impressed with them. And as an added bonus, they handled the wind quite well.

Once again, 2025 was the second year since I began using inflatables that I did not buy a new inflatable at all. Most of the other inflatables were still in reasonable condition, though the kangaroo at the side was a bit limp compared to last year. Only one was significantly older- that is my much-mentioned anthropomorphised reindeer underneath the kitchen window. It turned 11 this year- having first used it in 2014. I have NEVER had an inflatable last half as long as that, let alone a decade. Due to being largely shielded from the wind, sun and rain, it will hopefully continue on for some more years to come.

One of the most significant necessary changes was having to replace my Mirabella star near the front door, which was sad for me. It was sad because that was one of the lights that I bought my first year of doing Christmas light all the way back in 2007, and they lasted right up until this year. They were a great set of lights, which I bought at K-mart all those years ago. They were a feature every year, and I was proud of that. Over the years, being exposed to the elements wore the frame down, and it became a lot more fragile- I thought the frame would go before the lights. I managed to get the frame up on the wall (even though it was very fragile), and when I plugged it in, the lights didn’t come on. It wasn’t worth taking the frame down, as it would have taken too much time, so I bought a replacement that I was able to place over it, though it was much smaller and no where near as impressive than the original Mirabella star. They had one last season out, even if they didn’t work.

The other changes to the porch area was moving the large Santa figure to the inside of the garage, and the addition of a small picket fence around the Christmas tree.

The only other main change was the addition of two large semi-spheres on the lawn.

And that was 2025. Many thanks to all who have attended this year.

Fuit homo missus a Deo, cui nomen erat Ioannes.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by Him, and without Him was made nothing that was made:
in Him was life, and the life was the Light of men;
and the Light shineth in darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
This man came for a witness, to give testimony of the Light,
that all men might believe through him.
He was not the Light, but was to give testimony of the Light.
That was the true Light, which enlighteneth every man that cometh into this world.
He was in the world, and the world was made by Him,
and the world knew Him not.
He came unto His own, and His own received Him not.
But as many as received Him, He gave them power to be made the sons of God,
to them that believe in His Name,
who are born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man,
but of God.
AND THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH,
and dwelt among us:
and we saw His glory, the glory as it were of the Only begotten of the Father,
full of grace and truth.
John 1:1-14
