September on Dangar Island. Spring sunshine, spectacular skies, the rhythm of the tides and the Hawkesbury at your doorstep. Our serpentine angophora reclines like a Buddha over the water, suggesting gentleness and calm.

Our lovely return guest Fiona sent us these extraordinary photos after her stay at the Boatshed … . bioluminescence in the waves, lapping onshore beside the jetty. As Fiona said, “just amazing!”

One of those rare bits of Dangar Island magic. An unforgettable experience in our crowded lives, when the world suddenly feels very still. Thanks Fiona for coming back, and for sharing these beautiful images with us.

Spring is almost here on Dangar. These were all taken in early September over the years, when the island begins to wake up again: blue skies, wildflowers, longer days and those extraordinary sunsets over the river. It’s one of the loveliest times to be here, and Boatshed Bliss has plenty of September dates still free. Come before everyone else remembers.

Winter might be our favourite season.

The view seems to stretch forever, mist drifts across the Hawkesbury in the mornings, and the birdlife is extraordinary. Sea eagles, king parrots, kookaburras, tawny frogmouths and a myriad of water birds all going about their day.

Inside it’s cosy. Outside, the river puts on a show.
