The Bayview Boulevarde has hit a major roadblock, with NT Lands, Planning and Environment Minister Josh Burgoyne, not giving it the green light, despite his claim to encourage the private sector to "start investing in our communities again".

The shovel ready project, which aims to deliver 1000 Top End homes and premium residential living in a prime waterfront location, is now facing uncertainty after concerns around planning, community impact and broader support.

While developers want to push ahead, the lack of government endorsement has effectively stalled momentum, raising questions about the project’s future and what comes next for the Bayview precinct.

What it means:
No backing = no fast track. The development isn’t necessarily dead, but it’s definitely in limbo.

Bayview deserves better.

The final stage of Bayview - 'Bayview Boulevard', was always meant to complete the vision of Bayview as a vibrant, connected waterfront community. The original masterplan included a beautiful boulevard linking our neighbourhoods, public spaces that brought people together, and a lively waterfront that reflected the heart of Darwin living.

But that vision is now at risk.

A recently approved 18-lot subdivision on O’Ferrals Road will permanently block the planned Bayview Boulevard connection, cutting off access, community spaces and the potential for true waterfront activation.

Once built, this decision can’t be undone, and it means Bayview’s story will end unfinished.

This is our last chance to finish Bayview properly.

We’re calling on residents, local businesses, and supporters to stand together and ask the Northern Territory Government to reinstate the original Bayview masterplan, the one that was promised, approved, and celebrated as a model for thoughtful development.
