The rivers, streams and creeks around Derby are full of sapphires and other (quote local legend) lava lollies. If you haven’t been for a fossick, when you are at the house look up Secret River Tours. Mark is a tops bloke and a wealth of fun and knowledge. I am posting this as today I scored the best gem sieves I have seen in the market at Anaconda. Check these bad boys out, can’t wait until we are there early June to give them a go.

A tour company is advertising hot springs to visit in Tasmania, and the Weldborough Hotel in the state's north-east has been getting an influx of visitors asking for directions to an attraction that doesn't exist.

Atlas is nearing the end of a full maintenance overhaul by our epic trail crew — its first end-to-end rebuild since opening 🤌🏽
The work has been so comprehensive that the final 400m of the 8km+ trail will continue into the New Year.
The trail remains open while everything beds in.

📍 Wochya-upta - one of Derby’s hidden gems.
A spectacular climb draws you up from Lake Derby through dense fern glades to the very top of the old mine face, giving incredible views over the Derby township and Ringarooma River.

After taking in the views from the lookout at the top, feel the flow as the trail swoops, dips and curves all the way back down to the lake.
