Paper on Skin gala event tonight with the amazing Lyndal Thorne 👏🏻👏🏻 (and other special guests!) It just gets better every time, and while I don’t want to single anyone out … just the best speech by Arts Minister Roger Jaensch MP - so good to have an Arts Minister that actually loves the arts 🎭

👮 Last financial year, business burglaries were down in Devonport. Shoplifting was up by about 13% but so were clearance rates (arrests), by roughly the same percentage. In fact, our clearance rates are far better than the state average.

🚓 One of the things that can really assist clearance rates is quality CCTV footage. To make sure Devonport stays one of the most liveable places in Tasmania, I’d like to see Council invest in more CCTV - it helps our local police, and our business community 🛍️

🛜 Councils CCTV feeds directly into Tasmania Police but if you have CCTV footage and you want to report something to Devonport police you can upload to http://Police.tas.gov.au/reportonline

Managed to get up to the Home Hill Open Day this morning after a few open homes of my own!

The 30 minute ‘express tour’ was fantastic and just a reminder of what a power couple Joe and Enid Lyons were. No obstacle too big, no limit to their heart and generosity - makes you proud to think Devonport was their home town.

It would be great to see highlights of the tour filmed for screening on the new ships - would be a great tourism drawcard and the volunteer guides are exceptional in their knowledge of local history and the Lyons family.

🛻 Traffic congestion and population growth tend to go hand.

🚦 Here in Spreyton, $1.2m has been allocated to upgrade the Mersey Main Road and Kelcy Tier Road intersection with traffic lights

🚗 It will help alleviate congestion, but we need to do more in Spreyton to ensure traffic congestion doesn’t affect productivity, or liveability

🗳️ Last year I put forward a motion to council to stress test our road networks for population growth - in my second term I’ll keep traffic a priority!

In my run for re-election, these two go-getters would be looking down from the heavens with equal measure of pride, and concern that I'll spend too much time away the family business!

They raised me to work hard and be fearless, but in their latter years I would have to say it stretched my abilities to the max. Caring for your parents in their final years is emotionally tough, but more so if you are still working and raising your own family.

Its been my great pleasure to workshop ideas with Council staff on a presentation in the first half of 2027 to help us all prepare to care - to honour our parents without collapsing under a mountain of regulation, aged care, health, finance and legal complexity. Stay tuned!

One of the reasons I’ve been advocating for more medium density housing in the C*D, is to preserve the amazing agricultural land that hems Devonport 🐄 🐑 🥬 🥦

We aren’t making any more land, and building 2 or 3 story apartments in the heart of town means we can utilise existing services like water and power, and create and vibrant city, day and night - groovy! 🩵
