Six gorgeous little chickies hatched over the past few days, 3 large mixed breeds and 3 Belgian D’Uccles all being taken care of by a silkie hen. Fingers crossed our hen to rooster ratio is better than the last lot 🥴

The cutest time of year! First set of twinnies born overnight or the wee hours of this morning. At least it’s not pouring with rain and freezing like when Marjorie lambed last year 🥶

After just over 5 years our first guest book is now full of lovely notes from our guests. Not all guests leave us a message, which is completely fine, but we do love the little notes and drawings that people take the time to leave us. Here are a few of the little artworks dotted through the book 🥰

We’re almost five years into our hosting journey and receiving little gestures like this makes me so happy and all the washing and cleaning so worthwhile. This lovely couple have travelled all the way from the Netherlands and spent a few days with us before making their way to New Zealand. It still amazes me how much people love our little part of the world when we often take it for granted

Our first little chick from our rooster Henry, we’re not 100% sure if it was Violets egg but she certainly took claim hatching it bang on day 21.

This is my new friend Henry. He’s a handsome fellow, seems to be friendly enough but likes to be rather vocal! We’re going to try a Rooster collar to encourage him to use his inside voice. We would be interested to hear how others have combated the early morning risers, does anyone have any tried & tested tricks they’d like to share?
