Light and space sells houses – buyers love airy, light filled spaces. Freshen up faded paintwork with subtle light colours. Think neutral tones that complement each other and make the space appear larger (especially in photos).

Create visual appeal – freshly painted walls are a great backdrop. Create texture with textile, furnishings and rugs. Add interest with a few with carefully chosen accessories. In darker rooms use lighting create atmosphere.

Keep things simple – you may treasure your collection of bits and bobs, but to a buyer the room can appear cluttered. Little personal touches like family photos or art make the house feel lived in. The trick is to create an inviting space that the buyer can imagine making their own.

Provide a little hospitality – leaving a pot of coffee and a plate of freshly baked muffins in the kitchen makes your home smell inviting. Fresh flowers add elegance.
