Weekends are precious time to relax with family and friends and create life-long memories.

Our farm stay guests tell us they love the slow mornings, sipping coffee and watching the calves play, experimenting with whipping up pizzas or roasts to cook on the campfire and enjoying sunsets with their drink of choice. And when the weekend is done, they book again for next year because they know a little slice of heaven exists on the Sunshine Coast.

Our farmstay guests over the next few weeks will get to see the Fig Tree Farm paddocks transform into a nursery as our girls deliver their calves.

It doesn’t always go smoothly so regular monitoring of the cows is needed to ensure each one delivers safely.

Please help us name our little rescue calf.

It’s been an exhausting week mixing calf milk and feeding the little fella, taking him to the paddock every day and bringing him back in at night. The wet weather didn’t help either. He has loved his bottle feeds and we’ve all fallen in love with him. He has delighted our guests in The Dairy with his playfulness in the cattle yards. Although he’s not out of the woods yet, he’s proving to be strong and resilient so we are optimistic for his chances of survival so we think it’s time we named him.

He was found in the North Maroochy River so one suggestion is Moo-roochy. What do you think? Is that a good name for him? Hit us up in the comments with your name suggestions.

Mother’s Day on the farm was a bit eventful this year.

One of our beautiful newborn calves had an unexpected adventure falling into the North Maroochy River late yesterday afternoon. We rescued him; he was cold and tired and despite reuniting him with his mom, he was too weak to feed. A few hours later he was sucking on a human baby bottle and asleep on the living room floor.

Farm life always keeps us on our toes, and moments like these remind us how special life on the land can be. Our little fighter is now warm, fed, and getting plenty of love. Keeping our fingers and toes crossed for him.

Guests staying over the next few months will get a chance to see the calves as baby season gets underway. From cuddly calves to peaceful country mornings, there’s always something memorable happening here at Fig Tree Farm.
