Today I finally attached the drawer frames to the drawer carcasses using small brass k***s to pin them together. I’ve also been putting a strip of American oak around the top edges of the draw carcasses to hide the section through the 7 mm ply that I made them out of. I think this looks a lot better but I still need to go and repaint the carcasses.

A bit of an experiment today. When I spied this pile of old cross arms from telegraph poles, I wondered how they would clean up and if I could recycle them for future use. So today I put one through the planer and ripped it down on the table saw and was able to reclaim two reusable lengths of timber with an attractive deep-aged look. I think this is some kind of eucalyptus, maybe spotted gum or red gum, but it is a hard wood that plays havoc with the planer blades! I feel another piece of furniture coming on!
