FROM OUR FRIENDS Wesley Music Centre

A concert to celebrate the life of Garth Mansfield and his contribution to the Canberra Music Community

When was the last time you heard FOUR harpsichords played together in a live performance? Ever? This very special coming together of harpsichords and harpsichordists gives you the opportunity to hear the rich and complex Concerto in a minor for four harpsichords (JS Bach BWV 1065) plus two of the Bach concertos for TWO harpsichords BWV 1060 and 1062 (both in c minor). Backed by a string ensemble led by John Ma, and including instrumental works by Telemann and Solnitz, this concert will be a highlight of the Canberra musical year.

The four harpsichordists (Callum Tolhurst-Close, Marko Sever, Marie Searles, and Ariana Odermatt) are established performers based in Canberra and Sydney, and each bring their own unique skills and musical understanding as keyboardists, organists, and Early Music specialists to this melting pot of ideas. Each of these soloists also has a long-standing connection to the Wesley Music Foundation and its goal to support the Canberra music community and, in particular, young and talented emerging musicians.

The harpsichords used in this concert include instruments from the David Kinsela collection of David Evans harpsichords, which are cared for by the Wesley Music Foundation.

*** UPDATE ***
This concert has been cancelled. Please read message from Sally below.
Dear Supporters of the Wesley Music Centre,
It is with great sadness that George Wills and I announce that we are unable to perform in tomorrow’s lunch hour concert.
George Wills is very ill and has left making the decision to cancel as late as he could, hoping he may recover in time.
We were greatly looking forward to performing our program for you and working with young Wesley Music program Fellow, Harry Howard.
Please continue your support of the Welsey Music Centre and we hope to perform for you at a later date.
