Breaking news: The Reserve Bank of Australia has left rates on hold at 2.75% p.a.

Changes might be afoot in Canberra but the RBA is playing it safe, keeping interest rates steady at their record low of 2.75% p.a. for July.

The RBA Board has hinted that further cuts might be on the way later this year.

Breaking news: The Reserve Bank of Australia has left rates on hold at 2.75% p.a.

After an unexpected rate cut last month, the RBA has chosen to keep interest rates steady at 2.75% p.a. for June – the lowest benchmark rate in 53 years. Their May cut was spurred by a "surprisingly low'' inflation reading and a need to “encourage sustainable growth”*.

With the effects of that cut still flowing into the market, and the Australian dollar slipping below parity, it’s expected the RBA will cautiously monitor the situation before making additional rate adjustments this year.

Leopold was formerly known as Kensington. The post office opened as Kensington on 19 May 1858, and was renamed Kensington Hill in 1882, Leopold Hill in 1884 and Leopold in 1885.

Today the Bellarine Rail Trail passes through Leopold and is a popular walking and riding track.

Gateway Plaza is situated on the corner of the Bellarine Highway and Melaluka road, it is home to Coles, McDonalds, Panache and plenty of other specialty shops...
Leopold has four new residential developments called the Kensington Estate, the Estuary Estate, the Debionair Heights Estate and the Gateway Estate. Proven to be very popular many blocks have been sold. Houses are either in construction with others finished.

The town has an football team competing in the Geelong Football League known as the Lions.

The Leopold Sportsmans Club provides bowls green, squash, function rooms and other facilities.

Education in Leopold consists of three sources of education.
