Made it through surgery! 💕

The anaesthetist wasn’t overly keen on my offer of an extra $100 to keep me asleep a little longer… apparently that’s not how it works. 😂

Feeling a little banged up and sore, but I’m on the mend and finally home.

I have also discovered that being unconscious may officially be the only way to stop me talking about real estate… because within minutes of waking up in recovery, I was having a great chat with the lovely nurse looking after me and giving her tips on getting her property ready for market. 😂🏡

You can take the agent out of the office, but apparently you can’t take the real estate out of the agent!

A massive thank you to everyone who sent me a message, left a voicemail or checked in to wish me well for surgery. I genuinely appreciate every single one of you. 💕

For now, it’s a little bit of rest and recovery before I’m back out doing what I love.

Here’s to healing and getting back to business. 🏡

Settlement day is here!!!

This one is a little extra special.

After an incredible 15 years behind the Gumtree Café, Alexandra is officially handing over the reins to Annabel and her husband John, who will take this much-loved Orroroo business into its next chapter.

There’s something pretty special about seeing a local business remain in local hands, and I couldn’t be happier to see the Gumtree Café continue on with new owners ready to make it their own.

To Annabel and John, I wish you both every success as you begin this exciting new adventure. I can’t wait to see what you do with this wonderful little piece of Orroroo.

And to Alexandra — thank you for trusting me to be part of such an important sale. After 15 years of serving the community, I hope you enjoy a very well — and bloody well — earned retirement. ❤️

🚨 RIGHTO FOLKS, I’M CLOCKING OFF! 🚨

Just a friendly reminder that as of tomorrow, I’m out of office for the rest of the week.

Holiday time!!! 🥳🍹
And by holiday, I mean someone’s knocking me out, cutting me open and sending me home with strict instructions to behave myself. 😂

So, for probably the first time in recorded history, I genuinely will not be answering my phone tomorrow.

I know I’m usually the agent who says, “Call me anytime, I’ll answer wherever I am.”

In the paddock? Yep.
At the pub? Yep.
School run? Probably.
After hours? Of course.
Halfway through dinner? Wouldn’t be the first time. 😂

But apparently an operating table is where we finally draw the bloody line on Jen’s availability. 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

I’ll be laying low for the rest of the week, behaving myself (highly unlikely) and will be back annoying vendors, buyers and half the Mid North again next week.

Until then — be good, don’t sell any houses without me, and if you absolutely must cause chaos… at least wait until I’m back. 🤠😂

🏡 Sometimes the house chooses the buyer…

In real estate, we talk a lot about days on market.

In the big smoke, when a property has been sitting for a while, people can quickly start asking, “What’s wrong with it?”

But out here in our regional towns, I think there can be a lot more to the story.

I recently had a beautiful old home that had been on the market for quite some time — not because of a lack of interest. We had plenty of enquiries, inspections and people who could see just how much potential it had.

The reality was, my vendor simply wasn’t in a position to have the home perfectly presented for sale. Due to circumstances beyond their control, preparing, clearing and maintaining the property just wasn’t the priority — and nor should it have been.

So this property needed a particular kind of buyer.

Someone who could walk through the door, look beyond what was in front of them and see what this incredible old home could become. Someone willing to take it as is, allowing my vendor to move onto their next chapter without another enormous job hanging over their head.

And eventually, that person came along. ❤️

It reminded me a little of Harry Potter — the wand chooses the wizard. 😂

Well, sometimes in regional real estate, I reckon the house chooses its buyer.

Days on market is just a number. It doesn’t tell you the circumstances behind a property, the size of the buyer pool in a little country town, the conversations happening behind the scenes, or the story of the people involved.

Sometimes a home hasn’t been sitting there unwanted.

Sometimes it’s simply been waiting for the right person to come along. 🏡❤️

Getting in early with a little heads-up… 😂

And no, unfortunately I’m not off on a tropical holiday despite what the picture may suggest. 🌴🍹

Apparently the only way I can get a week off work is to have surgery. 😂🤦‍♀️

I’ll be out of action from 23rd September for around a week while I recover. I’ll still keep an eye on emails when I’m feeling up to it, but responses may be a little slower than my usual 100-miles-an-hour pace.
