Did you know: In 1911, Australian Census collectors visited people by foot, bicycle, and on horseback. Times have certainly changed.

For the 2026 Census it is set for Tuesday the 11th of August.
The ABS will provide instructions soon on how to complete the census.

The preferred option for completion is online. You can also access
information through your MyGov app on your device. Or directly
through the ABS website. Paper options will still be available upon
request. We will keep Residents in the loop as more information comes to hand.

A Kitchen Finding a New Home and a New Purpose.

Last month, we had a wonderful visit from the Men's Shed at Dural, and together we were able to do something really special for the community.
A preloved kitchen from Glenhaven found its new home at a Men's & Women's Shed in Londonderry, a group that truly needed the helping hand. While the truck usually reserved for flood victim deliveries wasn't available at the time, that didn't stop this great team from finding a way to make it happen!

The shed in Londonderry supports ex-service men and women who, until now, had been making do with an old container next to a disused toilet block as their workspace.

The goal was to help set them up with a proper place to meet, work, and store their equipment and that's exactly what was achieved.
A fantastic group of volunteers came together at Glenhaven for the day to carefully dismantle, remove, and load up the kitchen. It was a real team effort, and the results speak for themselves. The recipients were absolutely over the moon, and their appreciation was truly heartwarming to witness.

A big thank you to our resident shedders and the Men's Shed at Dural for stepping up and filling such an important need in our wider community. This is community spirit at its very best.

Lyn recently shared the wonderful news that Carol has been celebrated for an incredible 25 years of long-standing volunteer service at the San Hospital on Sydney’s North Shore.

Carol was joined in this recognition by fellow volunteers Deb and Viviene, each honoured for 15 years of service, along with Ercilia and Eve, both marking 10 years of commitment. Although unable to attend the celebratory morning tea, Richard was also recognised for his 10 years of service.

It’s a proud moment to celebrate the generosity and impact of volunteers, whose efforts continue to make a meaningful difference in the wider community.

We were delighted to welcome 25 guests to our recent open day at Living Choice Glenhaven, where visitors enjoyed an exclusive viewing of our newest display villa.

The afternoon was made even more special with the support of our wonderful resident ambassadors, who hosted a warm and inviting afternoon tea before guests set off on their tour.

Thank you to all of our guests of all ages, it was a great afternoon.

Living Choice Triples Bowls Carnival at North Epping.

Living Choice has been the main sponsor of the Bowls Triples Carnival for many, many years. The sponsorship is divided between Living Choice Glenhaven in the Hills Shire and Leisure Lea Gardens Retirement Village in Marsfield.

The Triples Carnival is well-supported by bowlers from many clubs across Sydney and this week they gathered at North Epping Bowls Club.
First place went to a composite team from the North Epping, Northmead, and Hills clubs, second place to the North Epping team, and 3rd place to North Ryde.

Assistant Village Manager of Leisure Lea Gardens, Anna Ginters, presented the prizes to the winning teams. Set high above Lane Cove National Park, North Epping Bowls Club has recently opened a new bistro and have been welcoming visitors for delicious meals, and for competitive lawn bowls and more relaxed barefoot bowls.

January was a record month for the Dural Men’s Shed, who removed and delivered four Glenhaven kitchens to Taree residents rebuilding after last year’s floods. The installations were completed with the help of Samaritans Purse, working alongside Vinnies to identify families most in need.

This effort marks the 46th kitchen the Shed has taken from Glenhaven over five years, supporting disaster‑affected communities across NSW. Long‑time resident Ted Utick has kept track of every kitchen, with support from fellow volunteers.

The Shed also recognises the dedicated drivers who manage the long delivery trips. For the Taree community, these kitchens represent an important step toward restoring their homes and rebuilding their lives.

Living Choice, including staff and residents, is sincerely thanked for supporting this ongoing partnership.
