~ A Letter from the Owner ~
“During the late 1960s and early 1970s, my wife and I holidayed at Currumbin because of its friendly village atmosphere, beautiful beach, terrific surfing, the Alley, magnificent ocean views, the natural greenery of Currumbin Hill, together with its restaurants, coffee shops, the Wildlife Sanctuary and the iconic Vikings Surf Club.
During one of our annual holidays as expats, we searched for a suitable home at Currumbin. We found and purchased Banksia Cottage in 1977, on what is arguably the best block of land on Currumbin Hill. Since that time, the cottage has been expanded into a beautiful, comfortable family home.
We have never regretted our purchase and have loved living here for the last 49 years. Our home is tucked away in a narrow, dead-end street with no on-street parking and very little pedestrian or vehicle traffic, providing excellent privacy, peace and quiet. We have experienced minimal corrosion damage due to airborne salt compared with beachfront properties, and we are not blown about on our decks, even when people are being blown away on the beach.
The ocean views from most rooms of our home are spectacular, inspiring and constantly changing. The sound of the waves lapping the shoreline is comforting, restful and sleep-inducing. At the appropriate time in the moon cycle, the reflection of the moonlight on the ocean is beautiful, mesmerising and romantic.”
