Great news for our Main Beach doggos! Turfing works at the southern entry/exit gate at Jack Gordon Dog Park are now complete, and the gate has been re-opened

📢🐾 Get ready for a pawsome adventure! The Paddle and Paws Splash & Dash 2026 returns to the Gold Coast this January

Join in the fun on Sunday 25 January 2026 at Pizzey Park, Miami for a fun-filled challenge designed for all ages and abilities, bringing together dog lovers and their four-legged companions. Participants will kick off with a paddle and swim from Pizzey Park Dog Beach alongside their pups, before embarking on a scenic run through the pine forest trails. The event also features great prizes, pet stalls, and delicious food trucks - making it the ulti-mutt day out for pets and their people.

Entry is free, but spaces are limited - so register early at www.paddleandpawssplashanddash.com.au.

To commemorate all the animal deeds and sacrifices in war the 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗪𝗮𝗿 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗽𝗽𝘆 which can be worn along side the traditional red one as a reminder that both humans and animals have served and continue to serve together

☀️ KEEPING YOUR PETS HAPPY & HEALTHY DURING HOT WEATHER ☀️

During times of hot weather and heatwaves it is important your pets have have somewhere cool to retreat to. Unless owners take the necessary precautions, pets can rapidly suffer from heat stroke and even die on very hot days

🥵 Tips for keeping your pet safe on hot days

🐾 Never leave your animals in a vehicle – even with the windows open. A parked car is like an oven and temperatures can reach extreme levels in just a short period of time leading to fatal heat stroke

🐾 Pets can get dehydrated quickly – have plenty of fresh, clean water available. Make sure your pets have a shady place to get out of the sun, be careful not to over-exercise them, and keep them indoors when it’s extremely hot

🐾 Know the symptoms of overheating in pets – including excessive panting, drooling, difficulty breathing, mild weakness, vomiting, or even collapse. Animals with flat faces are more susceptible to heat stroke

🐾 If you can’t be home seek alternative arrangements – ask your neighbour or a family member to mind your pet. If your pet is home alone, where possible, leaving the air-conditioning or fans on in the house will help to keep pets cool

🐾 Don't leave pets unsupervised around a pool or at the beach – not all dogs are good swimmers so ensure you introduce your pets to water gradually and make sure they wear flotation devices when on boats

🐾 Don’t let your pets linger on hot pavements – when the temperature is very high and being so close to the ground, your pooch’s body can heat up quickly. Their sensitive paw pads can burn so keep dog walks during these times to a minimum

🎃 Keep pets indoors – Create a quiet, secure space away from the hustle and bustle.
🎃 Hide the treats – Chocolate and lollies can be toxic to pets. Store them out of reach.
🎃 Costume check – If you want to dress up your pet, make it a comfortable costume that doesn't restrict movement, breathing or body language. Avoid costume elements that could be chewed or swallowed. Consider simpler alternatives like a bowtie or bandana.
🎃 Decorations with care – Keep candles and dangling décor away from curious paws.
🎃 ID tags & microchips – Ensure your pet's collar has an updated ID tag with your contact information. Check that their microchip details are current.
🎃 Reduce noise stress – Play calming music and keep doors closed to block out spooky sounds.
