Queensland's final stage of smoke alarm legislation is fast approaching, and this time it's all about OWNER-OCCUPIED PROPERTIES!

From 1 January 2027, all existing Queensland homes must have compliant, interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms installed.

WHAT DO HOMEOWNERS NEED TO KNOW?

Smoke alarms must be photoelectric, interconnected, installed in all bedrooms, relevant hallways and on every level as required. They must also be hardwired or powered by a non-removable 10-year battery, less than 10 years old and in working order.

DID YOU KNOW?

Queensland rental properties have already been required to meet these standards since January 2022. Now it's time for owner-occupied homes to follow suit!
