Brury Winangun is a Man for Others
Our very own MBCM Head of Software Development Brury Winangun is committed to giving back to his local community. We would like to acknowledge the active role he is playing in helping others in need.
Many of us spend our weekends running errands for the family or enjoying some downtime, but not Brury.
In his spare time Brury organises outings for his community, as well as opening his house to others for gatherings and sharing food – home-cooked meals that he makes himself. Brury is also a counsellor and offers his time to support those who come to him - people facing personal problems such as drug and alcohol addiction, relationship conflict and financial hardship.
“I tell them, it’s OK. Just hold on”, Brury said.
When asked why he does it he said cheerfully, “I am very blessed so I want to help others and give back to the community. There are many people who are really struggling and don’t have any support. When they come to me, I talk to them and offer them counselling to talk through their problems. I also direct them towards any resources that might be able to assist with their issue.”
Brury is inspired by his mentor Natalia Osipova, a Russian-born woman who now lives in Australia with her family. Natalia does amazing work for war victims and refugees, helping with accommodation, employment and other services. Brury has learned a lot from Natalia and continues to do so. She has guided and mentored him through his own journey, becoming an active volunteer for his church and a lifeline to his local Indonesian community.
Natalia appeared on The Project a few weeks ago. https://10play.com.au/theproject/news/2022/australian-womens-lifeline-for-ukrainian-refugees/tpv220512vtmfc
Brury’s contribution to his community is strongly aligned with MBCM’s values and we acknowledge his great efforts. He is truly a man for others.
