Cameron has been a ref for 14 years. During those years Cameron has reffed for GUFC, CF, FNSW, FFA. Cameron has been a Referee Coordinator/Assistant.
Cameron began at GUFC at 4yrs as a player.
In March 2021 he was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma in his L4 Vertebrae.
Was given 70% chance.
Had 14 cycles of Chemo, 6wks Radiation Therapy. Pericles Screw Fixation L3 to L5 (Major Spinal Fusion Therapy).
Had to learn to walk again.
9 Admissions to hospital due to side effects.
1 ICU stint, on ventilator and life support.
Declared in Remission in January 2022.
May 26 2022 Diagnosed with Reoccurring Metastatic Ewing’s Sarcoma in L4 Vertebrae.
After a PET Scan confirmed that diagnosis, also showed Cancer has spread.
Also diagnosed with Metastasis to Left Iliac Bone, Right Inferior P***c Ramus and Right Femur.
Total 4 new tumors, which grew in less than 2 months.
Started chemotherapy in Sydney at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse Cancer Centre.
4 more cycles of Chemo to undergo. Involves admission to hospital and 120th straight chemo infusion.
Will most likely need Radiation Therapy, major spine/L4 vertebrae replacement surgery, including replacement of vertebrae with cage etc.
Cameron has been give a 20% chance. If he don’t make the cut off, he’s been give 12 months.
Throughout all, can’t work, exercise, lift, can barely walk at times.
Cameron is a selfless, upbeat, determined, loving, caring, kind, thoughtful young man.
