Letās get Christmas ready! š
š
With only seven weeks to go before Christmas (yes, I've counted), itās time to finalise your festive budget, plan for pressies, and organise your social calendar to ensure youāre not overdoing it and most importantly not overspending!
As always, I'm here to help. I have put together six savvy pre-Christmas budgeting tips and preparation tricks to keep your bank balance in check.
1. Christmas budget š§āš
If you havenāt saved throughout the year and Christmas is looming, now is the time to do some quick calculations. Take the total amount you earn each week and minus your outgoings. With that total, multiply it by the remaining number of weeks until Christmas ā this is your Christmas budget. Divide your budget into three categories; events, gifts, and travel, and allocate an amount for each category. Now stick to it!
2. Donāt panic buy! š±
Donāt do your Christmas shopping in December. Spread the cost and start buying and stashing away presents early. Look out for sales and good lay-by offers. Research presents online to find the best deal. Get the kids to write their Christmas lists early and grab the gifts when theyāre on sale.
3. Be a smart host š©āš³
Family get-togethers around Christmas are very special, but if youāre the one hosting, it can be super expensive. Make sure no one arrives empty-handed by giving everyone a specific dish to bring.
4. Clever gift giving š
Everyone loves homemade baked goods. These always get a smile and cost very little to make. Other homemade ideas include propagating plants, artwork, framed photos, or wooden creations. Or consider a gift of time i.e., a voucher for an hour gardening, cleaning, or a day at the beach. Another fabulous idea is to make a family donation to an agreed charity, rather than traditional gift giving.
5. Use your reward points! š¤©
Youāve been collecting them all year, but have you checked how many points you have? This is the perfect time to cash them in for gifts or vouchers and do it early to be sure they arrive on time.
6. Plan and save early š©āš«
Now when I say early, I'm talking January! Youāll probably still be recovering from last Christmas, but by putting a small amount into a savings account every week, you will reap the rewards at the end of next year!
Looking for a loan pre-Christmas? Letās get you prepared!
If youāre on the hunt for a property and anticipate needing a home loan before Christmas, itās wise to start the process now. Remember many businesses involved in the buying process tend to close in December and January. These include banks, solicitors, accountants, builders, movers and more. To prevent any last-minute hassles, reach out and I'll help get things underway.
We hope youāve found my tips for the holiday season useful. Once the groundwork is behind you, youāll be relaxing in no time.
