They’re back! 🐳

WHALE SIGHTINGS - Wednesday 19 June 2024

Whales are out and about, and making a splash! Come visit us at the SA Whale Centre to find out more.

🐋3:30pm - sighting of a Humpback whale was recorded by The Bluff in Encounter Bay having a whale of a time.

🐋🐋🐋2:30- 3pm - A group of three to four Humpbacks were spotted at Parsons in Waitpinga.

🐋 1:20pm - A couple of Southern Right Whales were spotted at Commodore Point in Port Elliot.

🐋1:08pm - Unconfirmed sighting of a Southern Right Whale (Possibly two) approximately two kilometres out from Carrickalinga beach, south of the Wave Generator Wreck. The whales were seen blowing and breaching before ducking back under.

The Victor Harbor Winter Whale Fest 2023 Program is officially launched!

With more than 25 events thoughtfully curated, the month-long Winter Whale Fest is a rare opportunity to hear and learn from marine conservation thought leaders, immerse yourself in the magic of the marine world firsthand, and participate in a range of educational and cultural experiences.

The program officially commences with a traditional Ramindjeri Welcoming the Whales and Smoking Ceremony on Sunday, 28 May 2023. Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a cultural ceremony, while learning about the Ramindjeri dreamtime story of Kondoli the whale, as well as the cultural significance of the Southern Right Whales to the local community.

From there, the program offers an inspiring and informative lineup of talks showcasing thinkers, advocates, artists and conservation thought leaders who are at the forefront of marine conservation.

I was lucky enough to go to Lost Phoenix Farm for a long lunch with my girlfriends on the weekend.

It was the most amazing food and a beautiful setting.
