There is simply a supply and demand issue and until the goverment does something about incentives for new building there is simply not enough homes being built to match new demand thus putting pressure on boths rents and sale prices. I think this will compound over time, even if something was done to stimulate building now - the effects would not be felt for several years. So now is a good time to buy.
