New Legislation for Real Estate in Queensland
Did you know that from 1 July 2026, real estate professionals across Australia are now required to comply with new Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF)laws?
So, what does this mean for our clients?
You may notice us asking a few more questions or requesting additional documentation throughout the buying or selling process.
These requirements aren't optional—they're now part of our legal obligations to help protect Australia's property market from financial crime.
As your agent, we may be required to:
✔️ Verify your identity.
✔️ Confirm the source of funds or wealth where required.
✔️ Understand who we're acting for, including beneficial owners of companies or trusts.
✔️ Complete customer due diligence before proceeding with certain transactions.
✔️ Report suspicious activity to the relevant authorities where required by law.
While it may feel like a few extra steps, these changes are designed to protect buyers, sellers, and the integrity of the property market.
If we ask for additional information during your property journey, it's simply because we're committed to meeting our legal obligations while ensuring a safe, transparent, and compliant transaction for everyone.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
