If you feel like adding a little extra kindness to your stay, there's a donation tin (or QR code) with our cookies + cake, with donations going to our chosen charities.

Our charities are both local and for the wider Australian community:
• Junction 142 (Katoomba)
• NSW Rural Fire Service (Katoomba and Leura)
• Blue Mountains World Heritage Institute
• Blue Mountains Aboriginal Community Resource Centre
• First Nation Futures
• Rural Aid

Doing the Grand Cliff Top Walk? Grand idea!

📸 These pics from National Parks and WIldlife Service (NPWS) give a taster of the views during this 19km walk.

You’ll often see this walk promoted as needing three separate accommodation bookings for before/during/after a 2 day walk. The good news: you can base yourself at No.14 Lovel St for the Leura and Katoomba sections and skip the hassle of packing up and moving. So you can either stay the night in Wentworth Falls, or arrive at Wentworth Falls train station in the morning and organise a bag transfer (details below) so your luggage is waiting for you at the end of the day.

No.14 Lovel St is perfectly positioned for the Leura and Katoomba sections, as we’re nicely equidistant between Gordon Falls (the suggested mid-point) and the finish at Scenic World.

Want to make it even easier? We can help with bag transfer and storage through our local partners, and we’d recommend these as well, even if No.14 Lovel St isn’t your accommodation of choice:

🚙 Out of the Blue private transport to transfer you and/or your bags between legs.

🧳 Blue Mountains Bag Storage in conjunction or separate from bag transfer. Location just one minute from Katoomba train station.

Walk light, arrive relaxed, and enjoy a calm, clean guesthouse stay (no TVs, no parties).

FAQ: What to do on a rainy day in the Blue Mountains?

First up: don’t panic. Forecasts often look scarier than they feel. We check radar/timing apps, and our roof we**am is a quick check too, if you’re not actually here. Sometimes it’s not much rain, and a lot of it falls overnight.

That overnight rain is what makes the Mountains magic: waterfalls fill up, and the day can still be mostly sunny.

And sometimes rain will be heavy. That’s life. As the great Billy Connolly said: “There’s no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing, so get yourself a sexy raincoat and live a little!”

Rainy-day (and between-showers) classics:
• Chase a waterfall: post-rain = extra wow! Pics are from talented local photographers Gary P Hayes (1), Jeremy Murray (3), and Zo Martin (4 & 5).
• Misty views? The rainforest is lush and the fog is moody in the best way. Not up for a big walk? Scenic World gets you down and back up with zero effort.
• Art galleries + local makers, or even look up a class that may be running, or you can book in advance (pic: Ladybird Creative).
• Eating and drinking: long lunches, cosy cafes, and yes, w**e tasting is an all-weather sport (pic: famous Flower Pot Scone at Wayzgoose Diner).
• Virtual reality at the Heritage Centre in Blackheath (pic: Wollemi Pine VR).
• Shopping in our many unique villages (pic: Megalong Books).
• Take a drive: it might be drizzly in Katoomba but clear elsewhere, or around at Bilpin or Mt Tomah.
• Adventure option: canyoning is wet anyway… but safety first. Go with local expert guides (pic: High’n’Wild).

So yep, pack a raincoat… but still get out exploring. 🌿

And when you’re done, come back to recharge at No.14 Lovel St a comfy, cosy guesthouse where you can cuddle up, and listen to the rain.

Need a lift and local know-how? Let Out of the Blue - private transport take the wheel while you sit back and relax.

Checking out and the weather clears? Leave your bags at Blue Mountains Bag Storage near Katoomba station and enjoy another full day in the sun.
