If I was starting real estate again today… I’d do these three things.
Because this is exactly what worked for me.
1. I would start door knocking immediately.
From my very first week in sales, I was out in the streets having real conversations and doing real-life appraisals. I listed my first home on day four and my second a week later. One of those early sales went on to create multiple deals in the same suburb and I’ve since sold that exact home two more times across my career.
Door knocking gave me instant practice and something far more valuable than leads. It gave me relationships. Relationships that warmed over time, with less fee negotiation and far less competition when people were ready to sell. That’s the power of nurture.
2. I would study every sold property and every new listing in my area.
So I truly understood pricing, positioning and what actually worked. That’s how you become the expert long before anyone calls you one.
3. I would find a mentor and ask my boss for a coach.
I identified the best people in my office and in the industry and made myself available to learn from them. I offered to help at opens. I went on appointments. I treated every day like training.
Those three things built my entire career.
Not luck.
Not shortcuts.
Just doing what worked.
We all start somewhere.
Tell me what worked for you or what you’re navigating right now?
