WEATHER AND FLOODING UPDATE

This is just some general info and updates for the community.

❌ DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH FLOOD WATER

⚠️If you are affected by flooding in your home or business - Call SES on 132 500

If you are in an emergency - Call 000

🚗 Visibility is poor for drivers, if you can avoid going out, I'd recommend it. If you are driving, drive to the conditions.
AND FOR GOODNESS SAKE, PUT YOUR HEADLIGHTS ON

⚠ The University of Newcastle has closed it's Callaghan, City and Ourimbah Campus' for safety reasons.

👩‍🏫 There are a number of schools short staffed and some Early Childhood Centres closed. Check in with your kids schools and child care centers.

❌The M1 Motorway at Beresfield is closed due to flooding in a Northbound direction. Only one lane open in a southbound direction.

***UPDATE: M1 AT BERESFIELD IS BACK OPEN***

✅ Use John Renshaw Drive or Hunter Expressway as alternative.

🚆 Central Coast and Sydney Line Trains - Trains not running between Newcastle Interchange and Fassifern - Buses are being arranged but not available at this time.

🚆 Hunter Line - Line closed - buses replacing trains

🏠 SANDBAGS
If you need to protect your home with sandbags, you can collect them from:

SES Lake Macquarie - Boolaroo
Corner Fourth St and Creek Reserve Road
Boolaroo

SES Newcastle usually have sandbags available at their depot.
SES Newcastle have set up a sandbag collection point at Mayfield pool iwth City of Newcastle.
Ingall St
Mayfield

You may be able to get sandbags at bunnings too.

💧There is significant water over the road in the following locations in the Wallsend Electorate (Current at time of posting and subject to change throughout the day.)
