It is with some personal sadness that after more than 46 very rewarding years selling property in and around Launceston, I advise that due to my deteriorating health I have made the tough decision to retire.
After more than 22 years trading, I have recently closed my business, Peter Bushby Real Estate. I have loved my work, enjoyed immensely assisting people with the sale and purchase of their properties and I will miss that special feeling of achievement when you get a great outcome for them.
I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis or MS as it is better known as a 23-year old, now 40 years ago. Whilst I have tried to not let it impact on my life, I have had to be practical along the way and learn to cope with and accept the realities and challenges that living and working with MS has presented. Whilst at this stage this is not my preferred outcome, the need to retire is another of these challenges, albeit probably one of the biggest and most impacting!
I thank every one of the many thousands of people who I have done business with over my career for the opportunity to assist them. I also thank and recognise those talented, dedicated and loyal people who have worked with me along the way, particularly both the late Bruce Church and the late Don Walsh in my earlier days of Peter Bushby Real Estate and then Roger Bell who was with me for more than ten years. Most recently with the support of Kevin House since 2011 he made it possible for me to explore serving my industry more broadly and he has generously assisted me immensely over this challenging past year or so as I have needed to transition to retirement.
Thanks also to those people and businesses that have provided goods and services to my business over all the years.
I also express my sincere gratitude to those in my profession who encouraged and allowed me to serve and lead our peak industry body, the Real Estate Institute at both state and national levels. It was a rare priviledge to serve as President of both the REIT and the REIA.
Finally, I thank my wife, Debbie who has also shared my business journey and worked with me in an administrative capacity and personally assisted me for many years enabling me to work on for much longer than I would have been able to without her constant care and support. I also thank my daughters Sarah & Georgie and other family members and friends for their valuable and continual support.
Given my current health, by necessity I will be taking life quite a bit easier particularly in terms of working, but I am still open within my capabilities to finding suitable new challenges and stimulating activities as well as developing new interests to keep me occupied!
That said, wherever possible I will continue to make myself available for those who seek and need real estate advice and consultation. Please feel free to reach out and contact me should you consider I can be of assistance.
