Full re bed and point, bed and point valleys (you don’t see that often). 4/1 mix of sand and cement plus 100ml of bondcrete per mix,
Dunlop pointing
Widened valley iron and valley tiles cut back by 50mm making a 100mm wide valley.
The customer was getting leaves and debris piling up in the valleys and since cutting them back he hasn’t had a problem.
Roof will be cleaned and painted next week.

Re-bed and point ridge capping, bed and point valleys at customer request..
Remove fire place flu, replace broken tiles and re paint.

Thank you for all the likes, followers and comments.
If you are a roof tiler, or at least a roof restorer that believes in a proper, professional roof restoration I’m sure you will agree with me.
I receive many messages asking me what right I have to say the words “rip off”.
This industry is flooded with so called roof restorers offering to paint and “restore” your roof.
There are a lot of people out there that DO NOT know what they are doing, and are charging thousands for a shonky service.
Customers please, please get advice from a qualified roof tiler before accepting any quote.
Obtain 3 seperate quotes and ask questions, lots of questions…

I haven’t posted in a while, been too busy.
Key questions to ask your roof restorer are..
Do you change broken tiles or just silicone them back together.
Ask about the paint they use and the warranty period. (Most use water based acrylic)
Can you re bed and point ridge capping?, (if not find a qualified roof tiler that can).
(I am a qualified roof tiler 37years experience).

This is why you never let an unqualified person perform repairs to your roof.
Silicone is great in the right environment. But on a tile roof it breaks down very quickly and will just leak again.
Better to call a qualified roof tiler and have the ridge capping either re-bedded and pointed or just re pointed if the ridge capping is still firm.

Hello,
A little about myself before we get started.
I have been a qualified roof tiler for 37 years.
I started my roof tiling apprenticeship when I was 15 years old and became a tradesman at 18.
I was trained the proper way to install and repair tile roofs.
Recently there has been an increase in companies offering to repair and paint your roof (Restoration).
Some good, some bad.
As a result I have seen, repaired and reported far too many shonky restorers and honestly I am sick and tired of honest hard working people being ripped off.
