⚠️ A Tropical Cyclone Watch is current for parts of south-east Queensland and north-east New South Wales coasts, extending from Sandy Cape in Qld, to areas just north of Grafton in NSW. This includes the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Gold Coast, and the Northern Rivers in NSW.

So, what is a Tropical Cyclone Watch, and how is that different to a Tropical Cyclone Warning?

A Tropical Cyclone Watch is issued when a tropical cyclone is expected to produce gale force winds – winds 63 km/hr or greater – within the Australian region in the next 24-48 hours. The advice is updated every 6 hours.

When gales are expected within 24 hours or are already happening, a Tropical Cyclone Warning is issued. This advice is updated every 3 hours.
