If you live in Perth, Western Australia, chances are you've either experienced or heard a horror story about local home builders. Just recently, a colleague of mine shared her frustrating ordeal—after building with one of Perth's most well-known builders, her home was finally completed after a staggering 42 months. Even now, they're still discovering issues with the build quality and countless defects.
When she asked me about my experience, I shared a very different story—one I believe is worth telling.
Having built a house in Perth before, I still remember how stressful the entire process was. So, when my wife and I decided to build again, we were understandably cautious. We took our time researching various building companies and eventually came across Trio Homes.
At first, we were hesitant—they weren't one of the big names. But I've known Dino Djulbic and NJ Jakupovic for nearly 30 years, and I've always known them to be honest, hardworking, and trustworthy. Originally, our plan was modest—a basic 3x2 home on a rear block, designed to suit our budget in a tough market. But less than a year later, we moved into a stunning 4x2 dream home with a 7x4 pool and a large alfresco area.
The slab went down on May 30, 2024, and we moved in before Christmas 2024, with everything finished—interior and exterior painting, blinds, paving, alfresco decking, pool and pool paving, and even artificial grass. Every contractor we met had the highest praise for NJ and the Trio Homes team. That says a lot.
As a husband, seeing my wife's face light up as her dream kitchen, laundry, and en suite came to life was a joy. That's when I realised Trio Homes doesn't just build houses—they make dreams.
One of the most reassuring parts of the journey was how responsive and flexible the team remained. With many builders, flexibility disappears after you sign the contract, but not with Trio. They remained responsive, accommodating, and solution-focused throughout. Sure, there were a few hiccups—it's construction, after all—but they were resolved quickly and professionally. Remarkably, we never once felt stressed during the entire build.
Whether we called, emailed, or dropped by their Inglewood office, we were always treated like a priority. That kind of genuine care is incredibly rare in any industry.
