Sometimes the best opportunities come from simply having conversations.

While marketing 36 Sellick Drive, Croydon, we spent time door-knocking and getting to know the neighbours along the street. During those chats, we uncovered a very slim possibility that next door at 38 Sellick Drive may also consider selling.

Fast forward just a couple of weeks, and we were able to connect with a buyer who saw the bigger picture - securing both properties.

We’re proud to announce the successful sale of both 36 & 38 Sellick Drive, combining close to 2,000sqm of prime land in Melbourne’s outer east, offering exciting future potential for redevelopment (STCA).

A great result that came from relationships, persistence, and thinking beyond the obvious.

April 2008.

That was when I left England to begin a journey I’m still on today. Some 18 years ago now.

Back then, I wrapped up everything I had going on. I was a self-employed roofer, working under my own contractor’s licence. By age 17, I’d already taken on my first full re-roof in Kennington, Kent where I grew up. I won’t pretend I had it all figured out… I was well out of my depth in parts. But I found a way - subcontracted what I couldn’t do, pushed through, and got the job done. And at the time, I made what felt like a huge amount of money.

Alongside that, I was travelling all over London and the south of England installing Sky TV - up ladders, on rooftops, running cables into homes…

I was also enrolled full time in tertiary education at Canterbury College, at the same time as running both the roofing and the TV gigs. That didn't last very long and as the missed lectures started to mount up and the lecturers couldn't even get me in to reprimand me! I dropped out.

Eventually, I made the call.

I wound it all up. Sold my equipment. Sold the van and booked a one-way ticket… not planning to come back.

Looking back now, that decision shaped everything that’s followed.
