So how, you ask?
The purpose of this page is to bring people looking for low cost homes together, so we can collectively take the solution into our own hands.
The proposal: Project 1
Project 1 is a small scale development consisting of 5 owner-builders.
Target cost: $150-200k.
Target location: Footscray
Land isn't cheap in Footscray any more, so we need a cheap building solution.
Shipping container accommodation units.
They aren't luxury, but they are cheap (around 20k a piece), and we're on a tight budget.
So, with the five of us, that's 100k for the units. But we need somewhere to put them, and we need to pay some people lay foundation, hook up utilities, and maybe build some garages.
With the target cost of 150-200k, after buying the units, we're left with 550-900k for land and other expenses.
