It is critical that you are aware the implications of buying through certain structures when purchasing a property. This will depend on your goals and outcomes ie whether you are flipping for short term profit, holding for the long term, buying a principal place of residence etc. There are a multitude of factors to consider and you need to determine which entity suits your goals and needs

There are various benefits and disadvantages for each structure

That’s why as mentioned in a prior post it is important you are engaging an accountant that works with property investors as there is a plethora of factors to consider ie
Capital gains tax, succession planning, profit distribution, risk mitigation, asset protection, negative gearing just to name a few. It can be a very expensive and costly exercise if you select incorrectly and pay a heap of unnecessary capital gains tax on sale or are forced to change your entity and incur stamp duty again on transfer. Hence it is vital you receive professional advice prior to purchasing to safeguard any potential pitfalls in the future and understand exactly why you are selecting the entity you decide on
