Another rate rise today, which we all agree is out of our control.

Here are 5 things that are in our control!

Are you on the best possible interest rate? It takes one phone call to us to find out. Most borrowers still aren't.
Consolidate higher interest debt such as credit cards, car loans and other leases.
Most borrowers are paying higher interest rates for investment properties. Several lenders offer owner-occupied interest rates if you borrow from them for both your own home and your investments properties. These loans are not cross-collatoralised.
Between us, we can ask your current lender for an interest rate review.
If cash is king for you there are still lenders offering cash backs. However we need to analyse that the long term outcome creates savings for you.

To quote another saying, now is not the time to "put your head in the sand!".

It's time to take to action to get through the current rising interest rate environment.

Many borrowers still have options today that may not exist next week or next month.

I urge you to contact us so we can assist you with a plan for the next 12 months after which time experts are saying interest rates will start falling again.

The very best option for you may be to; refinance to a lower rate, convert to interest only if possible and if applicable claim a cashback from the lender.

Remember, as I've said on many occasions, lenders provide their best rates for new borrowers.

Now is not the time to be "too busy", make time for yourself right now to ensure the next 12 months is as stress free as possible.

Are you stressed about rising interest rates resulting in higher repayments?

Ask yourself this question; "have I done everything I can in my control to improve my financial situation?"

You can't control what the Reserve Bank and lenders do!

However here are 7 things you can do that are in your control:

1. Review your interest rate, most borrowers are still paying more than they have to. Re-finance to a better deal.

2. If the loan is suitable get a cashback, a reward for taking the time to re-finance.

3. Get rid of bad debt (credit cards, car loans etc.) by consolidating into your home loan.

4. Create a Fighting Fund to top up repayments until interest rates come down.

5. Review all insurance policies and utility bills to ensure you are on the best deal.

6. If your loan has a low LVR (Loan to Value Ratio) and you are paying Principle and Interest ask your lender to revert to Interest Only for 12 months.

7. As a last resort ask your lender for a payment holiday under hardship provisions.

The bottom line is there are things you can do and we are here to help.

Highly professional and incredibly personable team
As first timers entering the investment market, we had little understanding of the processes and potential complications that can be involved when navigating the market. From understanding where to invest, what to build and who to finance through, we really did not have a clue. We were directed to speak to Greg and the team through friends who had a number of investment properties purchased with the guidance of Onyx. Right from the start, Greg explained how it all worked, layed out some options and guided us through each step.
