🦁 DID YOU KNOW? | Rockbank’s Wild Past! 🌿

Believe it or not, Rockbank was once home to one of Australia’s most unique attractions – Bullen’s African Lion Safari.

Opening in 1970, the drive-through safari park let visitors get up close to free-roaming lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes, camels and even bears from the safety of their own cars! There were also pony rides, donkey rides and even a small airstrip on the property.

The park closed around 1978, and while the exact reason has never been officially confirmed, it’s long been rumoured that it shut down following either a lion attack or an escaped lion. Like many safari parks of the era, there were a number of animal-related incidents during its operation.

Today, if you know where to look along the Western Highway, you can still spot one of the original buildings, serving as a reminder of Rockbank’s fascinating and slightly wild history.
