To everyone who ran toward danger during the Bondi tragedy.
The paramedics and police who stepped into the unknown, and the doctors and nurses who stopped everything to perform CPR until help arrived — you saved lives.
The lifeguards who ran without hesitation and kept people on the beach safe — your instinct was to get there, fast and help.
The bus drivers who told people to get in and get down, and the business owners who locked their doors to protect strangers — you gave people somewhere to hide and feel safe.
The people who shielded their loved ones and other people’s loved ones with their own bodies, and those who helped the elderly to safety and reunited terrified children with their parents, you showed extraordinary courage and humanity.
The man who disarmed the attacker and saved so many lives, you put yourself in harm’s way for complete strangers, knowing the risk.
You are Heroes.
We are hurting with you. We are grieving with you. We stand with you, especially with the Jewish community, who should never have to carry fear alongside their faith, culture, or identity. You are not alone.
But this is who we are proud Australians who show up when it matters, people coming from nowhere to help, to support first responders, and to protect lives they’ve never met.
We do not stand for hate or division. We stand for love, for community, and for a future built on care, courage, and belonging and we are teaching our children love, acceptance, and humanity so they carry this forward long after today.
