There’s been an important update for conveyancing in Victoria: new AML/CTF (Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing) requirements are coming into effect on the 1st of July.
As part of these changes, clients will need to complete additional identity verification and customer due diligence checks before we can progress certain matters.
In many cases, this will involve providing identification documents and confirming details about the source of funds involved in the transaction.
These changes mean a few extra steps along the way, but they are designed to help protect the integrity of the property market and strengthen safeguards for everyone involved.
We’ve been preparing for these updates and will continue to guide our clients through the process as smoothly as possible, while maintaining the professional and personalized service you expect from us.
If you have any questions about what these changes mean for your transaction, please feel free to get in touch — we’re always happy to help.
