Beneath the Headline What the UBS Global Wealth Report Actually Says
Nearly one million new millionaires in a single year. That is not the finding that matters.
The UBS Global Wealth Report 2026, covering 56 markets and more than 92% of global personal wealth, recorded the fastest global wealth growth since 2017. Nearly one million new US dollar millionaires. Approximately 25,000 of them Australian.
The coverage was quick to discount it: much of that is property revaluation. Paper wealth. Fair for the $1M cohort.
The finding beneath the headline concerns a different cohort. UBS reports that the wealth of the $5M to $100M segment has compounded at 8.7% annually in real terms since 2000. After inflation. Across the dot com collapse, the GFC, the pandemic, and the current rate cycle.
That cohort is the buyer pool for scarce waterfront. The pool is compounding. The supply of north facing deep water frontage in this corridor is fixed. One side of that equation moves every year. The other never will.
The precinct level analysis behind this, the transaction record, not the headlines, is available on request.
