A big day yesterday with 11 new homes opened. These homes will support essential workers and families to stay in the Isaac region.

We are pleased to open 11 new affordable homes in Moranbah, bringing our total to 49 across the Isaac region. The Rosella Court project includes three units at 1 Rosella Court and eight at 27 to 29 Rosella Court, delivered by Marlee Constructions with support from the Queensland Government.

In the past year we have added 30 new homes in Moranbah, following earlier projects on Mills Avenue and Bushlark Drive. These homes will support the people who keep our communities going.

Our work continues, with Dysart planned as the next community to benefit. Thank you to Isaac Regional Council, our volunteer board and our industry partners for backing practical housing solutions for Isaac.

Today was a proud day for Clermont. Together with the Housing Minister Hon. Sam O’Connor, Kelly Vea Vea - Mayor Isaac Region and Melissa Westcott - Councillor - Isaac Division 3 officially turned the first sod on one of the most significant affordable housing projects the Isaac Affordable Housing Trust has ever delivered — 23 new units right here in Clermont.

These aren’t just units. They are homes.

Homes for:
- seniors who want to stay close to family
- essential workers who keep our services running
- families who want to build their future here in Clermont

This project is about giving Clermont confidence — confidence to grow, confidence to retain workforce, and confidence that people can stay in the community they love.

For regional towns like Clermont, every home matters.
It means kids can keep attending their local school because their parents can afford to stay.
It means our health services, small businesses and community organisations have a better chance of keeping staff.
It means seniors can remain in the place they have always called home.

We are excited to announce 23 units of affordable housing for Clermont. This project will boost affordable homes for seniors and essential workers. This is all possible thanks to our partnership with the Queensland Government and Isaac Regional Council.

Our essential workers – the nurses, ambulance officers, teachers, police, childcare educators, apprentices, and retail staff – are the backbone of our community. They deserve a safe, secure, and affordable place to call home.

𝗔 𝗠𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝘀𝗮𝗮𝗰!

Yesterday, we officially opened our newest affordable housing project on Bushlark Drive, Moranbah.

This project was proudly made possible through investment from the Resources Community Infrastructure Fund (RCIF).

The units were officially opened by IRC Kelly Vea Vea - Mayor Isaac Region and IAHT Chair Melissa Westcott - Councillor - Isaac Division 3, marking a milestone moment for housing in our region.

But these aren’t just buildings – they are homes. Homes that bring stability and security for:
- The people who care for us when we’re unwell
- The teachers guiding our children
- The workers in our local businesses
- The first responders keeping us safe

This is what affordable housing means to our community – it’s the foundation for a stronger Isaac.

In the last 12 months, IAHT has delivered over $20 million of affordable housing – creating 30 new units and townhouses.

With the support of Isaac Regional Council, the investment of RCIF, and through the leadership of the Isaac Affordable Housing Trust, we’ve been able to drive the vision and deliver meaningful outcomes.

The asking rent has increased 15.3% per annum over the last three years. Given the cost-of-living pressures, we do not want to see it back to $2000 a week like what we saw in February 2012.
That’s why IAHT began 14 years ago on the 25th of November 2012.
We saw that projection with Isaac Regional Council instigating this project with BMA BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) and land donation from Rio Tinto as major funding partners in the delivery of affordable accommodation to residents in Isaac.

Nurses, paramedics, hairdressers, teacher aides, mechanics, food and beverage attendants and other essential service workers that do not work in the mining industry deserve to live in the communities they serve without being priced out of the rental market. 🧑‍🍳👷‍♀️👨‍🎓👩‍🏫👨‍🔬👩‍🚒👸🤵‍♂️

🏘“Affordable housing for these key workers is not just a matter of convenience; it's a necessity,” Kelly Vea Vea - Mayor Isaac Region said.

🏡“IAHT aims to protect our communities from the highs and lows of the market, ensuring that our workforce — outside the resource sector — can continue to live and thrive here.”

As rental prices across the state soar, the Isaac region is stepping up efforts to provide affordable housing to the community through an $8 million Queensland Government investment.

🏠 Today marked the opening of 16 new affordable accommodation units in Moranbah, the heart of the Bowen Basin. 🏠

These units are designed to meet the needs of our essential service workers and low to middle income earners.

The project also includes five NDIS gold star rated units. Essential service workers are vital as they increase the liveability and services required in all vibrant communities.

Assistant Minister for State Development Julieanne Gilbert joined the Isaac Affordable Housing Trust (IAHT) chair Melissa Westcott and Isaac Regional Council Mayor Kelly Vea Vea for the official unveiling of the complex on the corner of Mills Avenue and Arkana Terrace.

The Queensland Government’s Resources Community Infrastructure Fund (RCIF) and mining industry stakeholders played a key role in supporting the project.
