Tips and tricks on growing your lawn 🌱

When it comes to growing your lawn you need to ensure the conditions are right. Choosing the right time to grow your grass is vital, a mild temperature and well hydrated soil is the ideal climate for optimal growth, this time generally falls around spring.

First you need to prepare the soil. This starts with ensuring the soil is debris free, do this by using a rake to clear and flatten the surface. Once the soil has been flattened and cleared you should add fertiliser to create a nutrient rich environment for the grass to grow, ensure this is evenly spread over the area you intend to grow your grass.

Once the soil is prepared you can start spreading out the lawn seed. Try to avoid spreading the seed in clumps and evenly spread the seed across the whole intended area.

To avoid the seed blowing away in the wind or birds eating it you should apply a top dressing of lawn soil (this should be at least a couple of millimetres thick). Once the top soil is applied moderately soak with a wetting agent, ensure you do not overwater as this will drown the seeds.

Once this is all done create a barrier to avoid the area being disrupted and water daily ensuring at least the top 1cm of soil remains moist. For optimal health and growth fertilise every 6 months.
