The Mosman and Chatswood teams swapped strata for clay at our recent Clay & Sip afternoon!

From cute mugs and dinosaur mugs to vases and some very unique creations, everyone got creative and brought their ideas to life. There were plenty of laughs, concentration and a few very proud artists by the end of it!

We love seeing our teams come together, step away from the day-to-day and enjoy some quality time connecting and having fun outside of work. A great afternoon of creativity, connection and a little bit of clay chaos!

Thinking about your next move as a Strata Manager? Here's what six years at Jamesons taught Shweta Ranawat.

Now General Manager of our Chatswood & Oran Park branches, Shweta shares the advice she'd give any Strata Manager weighing up a change:

- Don't rush the decision. The next move has to feel right, not just look right on paper.
- Look for trust, not just title. Being treated like a professional, and given the space to do the job properly, matters more than it seems.
- Be patient, but advocate for yourself. Growth isn't always overnight, but honest conversations get you there.
- The second AGM is your turning point. That's when trust and consistency really start to pay off.

Who's responsible for lodging your Annual Fire Safety Statement?

•Lodgement sits with the owners corporation (via your strata or building manager)
•Only an accredited fire practitioner can sign off on it
•The inspection process kicks off 90–120 days before it's due
•Miss the deadline and penalties can accrue, there's no such thing as an extension

Noise is one of the most common challenges in strata living — and one of the most frustrating.

A respectful conversation is often the best first step. Many issues are unintentional and can be sorted quickly once someone is aware.

If that doesn't resolve it, your strata manager can step in and issue a formal notice under your by-laws. If needed, the matter can also be referred to NSW Fair Trading for mediation.

There's a clear process for this, you don't have to navigate it alone.

The 2026 Census of Population and Housing happens tonight night, and every person in Australia needs to be counted, including everyone in your building.

✅ Complete your form online or on paper

✅ Count where you're sleeping on the night of 11 August

✅ It's compulsory. Don't leave it to the last minute!

Live in a secure apartment building? No need to worry about access or logistics, that's coordinated behind the scenes between the ABS and your strata manager. Your only job is to fill out your form.

In NSW, blanket pet bans are no longer enforceable. In most cases, pets are allowed.

That said, your building's by-laws can still set reasonable conditions — things like keeping pets on a lead in common areas or ensuring they don't cause damage or noise.

If your building still has older by-laws that fully restrict pets, it may be time to review them. The law has changed, and your by-laws should reflect that.
