🩺 Diary of a Nurse Leader: Entry One
"The Truth I Had to Embrace"
After decades in the clinical field, I’ve finally stepped away—but not out. Some truths are too important not to share.
👉 Here’s one: To lead others well, you must first lead yourself.
Not with authority or titles, but with intention, growth, and courage.
The hardest leadership journey I ever took wasn’t down a hospital corridor—it was inward. I had to shift my mindset, let go of old fears, and rebuild who I was from the inside out.
That shift began when I became a mother.
Suddenly, leadership wasn’t just something I did—it was who I needed to become.
My daughters were watching.
And they learned because I grew.
The same is true in healthcare leadership.
💬 When we show up real—vulnerable, honest, evolving—we give others permission to do the same.
And let’s be honest: It. Gets. Tough.
But real leaders don’t run. They rise.
💡 That’s why I’m writing this series.
Over the next 6 weeks, I’ll be sharing the truths, tools, and stories that shaped me—not as a manager, but as a human being who leads.
If you’re a nurse leader (or hope to be), I invite you to follow along.
We need more truth in leadership.
Let’s start with ours.
