Avon Downs crew has a busy few months since the last update. With wrapping up the cattle work season for 2023 🌾
At the end of September and early October, Avon crew got the chance to attend Brunette and Tennant Creek campdrafts with coming out with a few ribbons and high score throughout the campdraft, Challenge and rodeo 🤙🏿
Between the drafts and AAco footy, the crew process over 3000 heads of composite weaners at Austral homeyards. While mustering with second round being in full swing since late August. During the mustering and yard working/ preg testing the crew was handling with a variety of mobs sizes whether it was 600 head or 2000 head.
In late October, AAco footy Santas vs Brahmans (Qld vs NT) came around the corner and serious game faces came out of the works at Mount Isa football field. The Santa girls sadly went down to the Brahmans girls in their touch game but the boys brought the cup home in their rugby game 🏉 GOOO THE SANTAS 🔴⚪️
In mid November, the storms came but not with the results we were hoping for… dry lighting 🌩 Thanks to the neighbouring station Lake Nash Station Rocklands Station, Qld/NT, Soudan Station, Gallipoli Station and Barkly Downs, that have helped Avon over the last few weeks with the fires.
Also Avon girls got attend this last a event of the year, Barkly Ladies Day with the theme being glamour in the dust. It was an entertaining day with Georgie Keats from the Common Ground foundation being the guest speaker✨💖💐 There was lots of stalls, plenty of food and drinks and funny and good entertainment from comedian Ellen Briggs.
