Our stickers have arrived and they will go straight to the back window where everyone can see them. Three families lost their loved ones at an unsafe level crossing with a poorly lit train. Thats just one tragedy amongst 100’s more which occur at unsafe level crossings across our country. It is disgusting that nothing has been done to address this issue. We all love traversing this beautiful country of ours and we should be afforded the highest level of safety to do so. Please support and educate at the below page.

UPDATE 🙏🏻
Firstly, thank you for the continued support, in our opinion we would not be at the point we are now without your input and watching eyes!
All of the laying oil (along with the water) has been removed from the affected creek system. This has come to fruition in the last two weeks and we understand that logistically this was quite a task. Very pleasing to see the bulk removed and the smell has reduced considerably. So we are left with oil stained creek beds, vegetation and some rising oil. We are hopeful of a plan to attack this and in the mean time we are using our Sustainable Salons hair booms to combat the remaining oil. This is also a handy technique as you can see by the pictures, a lot of the terrain is quite difficult to access. We are still working hard for the future of this gorgeous creek system.

Sustainable Salons is an incredible recycling initiative, amongst other recycling projects, they take waste hair from the floors of hairdressing salons across the country and turn it into oil hungry booms which are then distributed to various messy disasters, just like ours, to help clean up! And guess what!!! With the help of the kind and efficient folk at Mainfreight together they shipped us 7, SEVEN! pallets - 1000 booms!!! The most generous donation, thankyou Sustainable salons and Mainfreight, you really do have the community and the environment at the forefront of your minds and we are ever so grateful. How did this all come about you ask? You guys!! We were pointed in the direction of sustainable salons by a lady who saw one of our original posts. We followed up and within 24hrs Paul from Sustainable Salons was on the phone with the good news. Jump on their website https://sustainablesalons.org/ and check out the amazing work they do! The power of the people is overwhelming. Stay tuned for more updates on this amazing product and how it is going to assist our clean up.

UPDATE
where to begin? There is a lot going on here but I will stick to the positives. We have been in contact with several companies who produce amazing, if not magical, oil absorption products and there is some wonderful news to report hopefully in the next few days. We have had a meeting with our environmental lawyer here at the station and whilst it has highlighted the gravity of what we have / are facing, it has definitely instilled some hope to the situation. We have environmental experts on site daily who are keeping an eye on the fauna (amongst other things) and are caring greatly for any steindecker turtles, cleaning and relocating them. This has included yabbies and insects as well. As such we do not need any more volunteers on site at this stage. Thank you to everyone who has offered a hand, you are all amazing. A very big thank you to the caring people at MACA, Ramelius Resources and Kirkalocka Mine for the donation of spill equipment. It has been great to talk to your environmentalists and we thank you for your time. Also a huge thank you to Michelle (and Nathan) GG Wildlife Rescue Inc & WA Wildlife Displays who dropped everything at her wildlife rescue, came to the station and straight out into the creek! Your actions and advice were invaluable. We have been continuously blown away by the community support and we ask you to stay with us. What can you do? easy - make your voices heard that we want this creek cleaned up. Thank you.

It is with great sadness that we announce the station is NOW CLOSED to all tourism. We are putting all our efforts into this disastrous oil spill. It is a greatly concerning, stressful and time consuming period for us and we appreciate your understanding and support. We are working through contacting our bookings, alternatively you may email us [email protected]
Sincere apologies.

THANK YOU again for all your responses! Today was another big day, we received media coverage across different platforms which will assist us greatly. We have been speaking with politicians, wildlife rescuers, oil spill experts and more. We are speaking with a company who has developed an oil absorbing system. We took a donated spill kit to an oil pool and rolled our sleeves up. We welcomed Michelle from GG Wildlife Rescue Inc & WA Wildlife Displays who hit the ground running and has already rescued a dinner plate turtle from an oil pool, cleaned and re-released YAY 👏🏻 We have environmental experts on site and officials from the Department of Water. This is an ever evolving incident and at this stage we do not require extra hands on site but we still need your voices! Please continue to share and comment on our posts and lets get this oil cleaned up!!!
