🐐 Meet Theodore & Lottie – The Real VIPs of The Coachman’s Rest 🐐

Let’s be honest… you’re not just booking a stay for the views (although they are pretty incredible 😉)

You’re booking it for these two.

Theodore and Lottie are just two of our four resident goats and quickly become everyone’s favourite part of the stay. Curious, cheeky, and always up for a visit, they’ll happily wander over to say hello, keep you company while you enjoy a morning coffee, or steal the spotlight in your photos 📸

There’s something pretty special about slowing down, sitting out on the deck, and having these two grazing nearby. It’s the kind of moment you don’t get in the city.

Whether it’s a romantic getaway, a wedding stay, or just a weekend escape… Theodore and Lottie are ready to welcome you 🐐🤍

Just be warned… you might come for the tiny home, but you’ll leave talking about the goats.

From the moment you wander down the gravel path and step beneath the rustic iron arbour, you realise this isn’t just accommodation… it’s an experience.

Every corner of our property offers a new vantage point. Whether it’s beneath the sweeping gums at golden hour, framed by climbing vines and garden blooms, overlooking rolling farmland, or tucked away in an intimate garden nook. The natural textures, the light, the trees, the open skies, it’s a photographer’s dream and the perfect backdrop for timeless wedding imagery.

Where did the name The Coachman’s Rest come from? 🐎📬

Long before cars and coastal highways, this very spot played a small but important role in South Australia’s early history.
Back in the days of horse and cart, mail was carried from Adelaide to Victor Harbour, winding through the hills and valleys of the Fleurieu. The journey was long, slow, and demanding, for both the horses and the coachmen guiding them.

Along the route, there were essential stopping points where the coachman could rest, tend to the horses, and prepare for the next leg of the journey.
This property was believed to be one of those stops. A place of pause, recovery, and quiet connection before continuing on toward the coast.

That history inspired the name The Coachman’s Rest.
A nod to the hardworking travellers of the past, and a reminder that this land has always been a place to slow down, breathe, and recharge.

Today, the horses are gone but the feeling remains.
A place to rest, reflect, and enjoy the journey. 🌿

Our handsome little resident lookout here at The Coachman’s Rest.

Perched up on his favourite spot, Theodore takes his role very seriously, keeping a watchful eye out to see who’s arriving next. Curious, gentle, and always quietly judging your snack choices, he loves greeting guests from a distance before deciding if you’re worthy of a closer inspection.

If you hear a soft bleat or catch a pair of inquisitive eyes following you as you settle in, that’ll be Theodore… making sure everyone feels right at home on the farm.

Tucked amongst the gum trees, The Coachman’s Rest is all about slowing down, soaking in the views and enjoying those simple moments, morning coffees on the deck, long afternoon chats, and peaceful evenings under the stars.
